FUC 369: Deterge - Be Prepared CD

$14.00

Full 75+ minute album. Reaching into a past where boys will be boys and where boys become men. Sadly, all positive organizations come to an end. Reverence. Nationalism. Morality. All contained within. This is a love letter to personal adolescence a decade in the making.
I never did finish my journey to Eagle Scout, stopping one short at Life Scout. Consider this my final Eagle Project.
Power electronics? Industrial? Harsh noise? Hardstyle---Trance---Techno? Call it whatever you want. This is the epitome of Deterge and you will never understand my motives.
James Haras, Troop 127

"Deterge – Be Prepared
Be Prepared: Words that can serve as a guiding mantra or a stern admonition. Jim Haras has brought forth a reflection on this maxim, but also meditations on the points of the Boy Scout Oath. While the era we find ourselves in is far removed from when Lord Baden-Powell laid out these cornerstones of Scouting in 1908, the words can still serve as an aspirational framework for a code of self-conduct. Deterge’s work sounds a reveille for idle minds.

While Scouting’s strict militaristic framework and lessons in knot-tying can present as sadistic, the 4% of enrolled youth who achieve the master rank of Eagle Scout can attest, it’s a far more masochistic endeavor – rewards far outweighing the labors. Yet, it is a legacy of pride, honor and self-discipline. Included in this assemblage of tracks are insights from members of the Underground community who also have a background in the fraternity of Scouting – tandem paths that overlap in their veneration of industriousness and self-sufficiency.

The material contained within moves between lash-tight abrasion and rhythmic material propelled at marching cadence. Sonic Handicraft honed on whetstones of experimentation & pitched on the level ground of experience. Offered as a salutation not only to the Great Scoutmaster in the Sky, but a secret handshake to those who refuse to let the sick acts of depraved individuals who prey on youth, tarnish their efforts. Let these tracks point as Arrows of Light towards a future we can build together. This is no way a secret society: pay your dues, shoulder your pack, and fall in line. Forward March.

We aim to leave our surroundings better than we found them.
